Update: After just a couple of hours, Niantic couldn’t help but tease some more details about the trainer battle features. There will be three leagues in which people can compete in.
Original Story: After a few teasing tweets, Niantic has finally revealed that the next major Pokémon GO feature will be trainer battles. The feature has been teased many times over the two years since the game launched, with Niantic finally giving a firm release window of “by the end of 2018” earlier this year. It looks like they’ll be keeping that promise.
Details are incredibly sparse right now — it’s currently unknown how this will work, if the battle system will be overhauled to match the new feature, or even when it’s likely to launch. All we know is that it’s coming “soon.” Now that the announcement is out there, we expect to hear more over the coming days and weeks, and we’ll be sure to update you when we hear more. In the meantime, you’ll just have to stick to raid battles.
It's Black, Back Again.
