Think that CP strength is the only deciding factor in Pokémon GO Trainer Battles? Think again, Trainer! Trainers will need to choose a league before going into a Trainer Battle, with each league having different maximum Pokémon CP limits. #GOBattle

Here’s a breakdown of each Battle League’s requirements:

While Pokémon with high CP might be a big advantage in Master League battles, Trainers will have to think more strategically when battling in the Great and Ultra Leagues, where there are specific CP limitations. pic.twitter.com/lRKc11Acbf

Original Story: After a few teasing tweets, Niantic has finally revealed that the next major Pokémon GO feature will be trainer battles. The feature has been teased many times over the two years since the game launched, with Niantic finally giving a firm release window of “by the end of 2018” earlier this year. It looks like they’ll be keeping that promise.

Details are incredibly sparse right now — it’s currently unknown how this will work, if the battle system will be overhauled to match the new feature, or even when it’s likely to launch. All we know is that it’s coming “soon.” Now that the announcement is out there, we expect to hear more over the coming days and weeks, and we’ll be sure to update you when we hear more. In the meantime, you’ll just have to stick to raid battles.
