After finding some success on Nintendo’s 3DS, as well as mobile platforms, the Theatrhythm series is going to stray from it’s Final Fantasy origins with the next title, Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest.

So far the Theatrhythm games have brought the music from nearly every Final Fantasy title into a rhythm action style game. Between Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, Square-Enix has close to exhausted all the musical resources it could extract from the Final Fantasy franchise, and so they have moved on to Dragon Quest which is less known here in the West but rivals Final Fantasy in popularity over in Japan.

A Japanese teaser site has been opened, and the game is set to release on March 26, 2015 in Japan.

It’s hard to say whether the new title will manage a release outside of Japan, given Dragon Quest’s relatively smaller audience over here, but we sure are hoping for it.
