We’ve known about the Wii Remote Plus for some time now, Satoru Iwata officially confirmed it just over a week ago too. However, we now know when we’ll be able to get our hands on them, well if you’re in Japan at least. The Wii Remote Plus launches in Japan on November 11. If you’ve been out of the loop, the Wii Remote Plus is a Wii Remote with a Wii MotionPlus attachment built into it. It’s the same size as a normal Wii Remote and it will also be the same price, Nintendo is most likely replacing all Wii Remotes out there with these new ones and phasing out the old type. Wii Sports Resort and Wii Consoles in Japan will also be getting upgraded with these enhanced remotes.
In addition to the new controller, there is also a new colour. It’s the same red as the new ’Mario 25th Anniversary’ controller and there is a matching Nunchuk for it too.
No word yet when or if these controllers will make it out of Japan, but it shouldn’t be too long. So if you need a new Wii Remote, it might pay to hold out.
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
Definitively done with the Wii U now.
But it's not for everyone yet.
