What you could and should be playing this year, so far.
Into its fifth year and with a ‘new’ iteration released in just two regions of the world (did you hear, that’s us yay) the Nintendo 3DS should be powering into an awesome year.
While we know almost all of the 2015 lineup for the Wii U, aside from the recently revealed The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask most of the Nintendo 3DS lineup for 2015 remains a mystery.
Could it be Nintendo has a slew of ‘New’ New Nintendo 3DS games to show off and is holding back until the console lands in Europe and America? What about the possibility that Nintendo just doesn’t have much left in the tank for 2015 while its focus has been on (somewhat deserved) Wii U?
Whatever the case, we do know of a few games on the way to the Nintendo 3DS this year and they are worth having a look at:
Anyone who say they’re not excited for this one is a dirty filthy liar. One of the deepest and darkest games Nintendo has ever created gets a graphical tweak for the new world. There’s also going to be some tweaks under the hood but the same three day cycle that inevitably results in your doom will remain.
If you’ve never played it before you’re in for a treat, everyone else who has – it’s time again to play.
Release Date: Autumn (Australia), Spring (North America, Japan, Europe).
You didn’t just buy that New Nintendo 3DS just for the super stable 3D and improved looks did you? No, you bought it for games like Xenoblade Chronicles which will require the new grunt of the new system to power it. Originally released on the Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles gave us an actual good Wii game in 2010 and a shirtless Shulk in Smash Bros. Oh, it’s a pretty fun RPG as well.
Release Date: 2015 sometime.
From the genius turn-based strategy minds of Intelligent Systems comes Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. It’s a brand new IP from them and better known as Lincoln vs Aliens in Japan. That’s right, the game takes places a steampunk fantasy version of London and you control Unit S.T.E.A.M which was founded by Abraham Lincoln. Well, I’m sold.
Release Date: May (Australia)
One of the hardest games to get into but once you’re in, it’s like crack. Yes, it’s that game the Japanese all love and now it finally has online multiplayer on the 3DS without the need for the Wii U. There’s numerous new additions to the game that fans will love and everyone else will probably be like that dog and have no idea what they’re doing.
Release Date: Early 2015
Remember this one from E3 last year? Yeah, we didn’t forget about it Nintendo – you promised it! Expect to see this one out early in the year, check out our review of the DS version of the game to see what it’s all about.
Release Date: Um, sometime this year?
We’re big fans of the uber-cheap, but uber-awesome Gunman Clive and we’re happy to see developer Bertil Hörberg bring back Clive for some more eShop action.
Release Date: 2015
We loved the Nintendo DS version and now on the Nintendo 3DS running at a full 60fps, upgraded graphics and of course 3D we can’t wait to see how Renegade Kid’s first game lives on in 2015. Assuming of course we actually get it, hopefully they don’t have to classify the game again.
Release Date: Please
So it doesn’t even have a proper name yet, but the Etrian series is getting a Mystery Dungeon spin-off and if I didn’t include it in the list we’d be just get yelled at. Help, they have a knife.
We haven’t seen anything out of Nnooo themselves for a while now (Cubemen 2.0 was published by them, not developed) and as such we’re still awaiting more news about Blast ‘Em Bunnies. On ya boys.
It couldn’t be a list of upcoming 3DS titles without mentioning both Flipnote Studio 3D and Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused? Both games remain on Nintendo’s ‘TBA’ list after a number of years.
We’ll get them some day.
It's Black, Back Again.
If these aren't the coolest graphics...
Loco Motive, MySims: Cozy Bundle, Stray, Nine Souls, Servonauts.
