Finally a way to showcase how bad I am at the game.
Ever since Rocket League launched on the Switch last November, Psyonix and Panic Button have worked tirelessly to bring improvements to the game, which was a little rough around the edges when it first released. But the next update might be the biggest one yet.
Releasing on the 3rd of April, just a few days from now, is the Tournaments Update, which introduces a new system for creating and competing in tournaments in the game. But on top of that, the Switch gets a few extra improvements, with two big ones — video capture, and a serious increase in resolution. After the new update lands next week, players on Switch will have two graphical options to choose from. The first, Performance mode, targets 60fps and runs at the native resolution of 720p in handheld, while running a little bit below native when docked, with a resolution of 1664×936.
Quality mode, on the other hand, caps the frame rate at 30fps, and locks the resolution at 720p when handheld and 1080p when docked, alongside a bunch of other graphical improvements like lens flares, light shafts, dynamic shadows and depth of field. This is a marked improvement over how the game runs currently, at 576p when handheld and 720p when docked.
