The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes will scratch your Four Swords itch

And even better, it's got online!

Eiji Aonuma revealed in tonight’s Digital Event that The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS later this year. The game is a multiplayer orientated adventure game developed using the A Link Between Worlds engine.

While the emphasis seems to be on multiplayer, the game won’t force players to play co-operatively. Similarly, if you can’t muster friends together at any given point, the game will support online co-operative play.

Players can jump on top of each other in a “totem” feature to help approach the game’s various challenges and puzzles in a unique way. Similarly, there’s costumes that affect the skills and abilities of the playable Links, including Zelda’s dress.

The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes is releasing this year, but once we get more solid release details we’ll be sure to issue an update.
