Its still without a publisher, but The Grinder is still staying a first person shooter. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions will be the top down perspective that was announced previously. Speaking to IGN, High Voltages chief creative officer, Eric Nofsinger has said that "The expansion of Grinder to 360 and PS3 and its subsequent change in gameplay and perspective has been somewhat misinterpreted as a universal change across all platforms. We still genuinely love the Wii and would ideally like to see a publishing partner pick up both a FPS Wii version and a third-person action version specific to the 360 and PS3".
While theyre making games for the HD consoles, Nofsinger admits "We have invested more than a year into the Wii; the game is extremely fun, and frankly, we wouldnt want to see that work thrown away. But when we decided to add the 360 and PS3 platforms it didnt seem to make much sense to jump on the rainbow chasing treadmill of trying to do the same game for such dissimilar consoles and end up short changing one or the other."
High Voltage currently has Tournament of Legends and The Conduit 2 still on the way, regardless of what the fate of The Grinder may be.
Eric Nofsinger has also said in another interview that "The Wii audience isnt a group that wants to be catered to or treated different. When it comes to The Grinder we dont want to think of the Wii as a lesser system. There will be a fine line to walk and I dont think we can treat all three audiences wholly different."
The Grinder will make an appearance… one day, we would imagine.
