The Fall coming to American Wii U eShop later this week

Over The Moon Games, the development team behind Wii U indie project The Fall, have announced that the game will be coming to the American eShop later this week. Specifically, it’ll be releasing August 25th. The game was the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign that ended in October of last year.

Set in a dark and distant sci-fi universe, The Fall revolves around an artificial intelligence on board a futuristic combat suit who must help her unconscious human pilot towards medical attention. Of course, there is more to it, but in the interest of spoilers we’ll keep the details to a minimum.

It features an interesting mix of point and click adventure games, platforming and even some tinges of a shooter to provide a unique experience reminscent of Super Metroid and Monkey Island.

While the game will be released in America in under a day, we’ve received word that Over The Moon Games are meeting with Nintendo to discuss releasing the game internationally. Hopefully it’ll get a local release here at some point, although our classifications system certainly isn’t making it easier.

We’ve reached out to Over The Moon games and have confirmed that they are aiming for an Australian release. Once we get anymore updates, we’ll be sure to let you know.

I read this title as “The Fall of the American Wii U eShop coming later this week” and expected a very different article.

I bought this as soon as it came out on Steam, because something about the trailer really struck something deep in me, and I went on to really enjoy it (even if it only is the first of two episodes). I’m in the really, really niche minority, but if it came out here, I would happily double-dip again.
