Lucasarts and local studios Krome are again teaming up to bring Star Wars: The Clone Wars to the Wii and Nintendo DS, but the other consoles will be in on the fun this time too. Based on the TV show of the same name Star Wars The Clone Wars™: Republic Heroes puts you in service of the Galactic Republic to hunt down a mysterious bounty hunter Cad Bane and combating the all-new Skakoan super villain Kul Teska.
Republic Heroes allows players to fight as both Jedi Knights and clone troopers over 30 missions. The game takes place story wise in the gap between series one and two of the TV show. While you’ll be on foot again in this game they’ll also be a bunch of vehicles to control. The Wii version of the game seems be missing out on the drop in and out co-op of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions although considering Nintendo’s online service we can understand why. No word on Wii MotionPlus functionality has been confirmed for the Wii version, but we hope to see it as after two games already without it we’d hate to miss out again. The Nintendo DS version adds touch screen controls and an expanded story line.
“The Clone Wars franchise has struck a chord with viewers and gamers around the world with its action-packed storyline and memorable heroes,” said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. “With its Jedi and clone trooper gameplay and all-new storyline, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes takes the franchise into a truly exciting and interactive direction.”
The game is out this September.
