In all the excitement of yesterdays announcements we forgot to take a step back and say "Hang on, when are we getting it?". While an exact date for Japan was given, both Europe and America only got a rough ’March’. Usually we’d assume Australia would fall under the European banner but with hit and miss release windows that we get for things in Australia, assuming this now would be foolhardy.
Nintendo Australia was approached for comment but we’ve yet to get a reply, which to be fair – it’s over 6 months away at best and Nintendo plays its cards extremely close to its chest.
Our tip? Don’t expect a closer release date announcement for Europe and America until at least after Christmas and don’t expect an Australian one possibly even later. Definitely until next year.
UPDATE: We would love to be proven wrong however…. and it looks like we were!
Vigilant reader of Vooks, Josh has spotted this tasty morsel of information from the transcript of Iwata’s presentation from yesterday. "As for the U.S., Europe and Australia, the launch will be in March 2011, and our overseas subsidiaries will make their own announcements on such details as the price and the launch date later."
So 3DS for Australia in March 2011, a closer date and price though we’ll still have to wait for.
Thanks to Josh for pointing this out! Let the countdown begin!
