Tetris 99’s second Grand Prix tournament goes live this weekend
Last month, Nintendo introduced us to an all new type of event in Tetris 99, with a pretty nice prize for the winners. This month, it’s back — but it’s a little different.
Nintendo announced today that the second Tetris 99 Grand Prix will run this weekend, with 99 winners in Australia eligible to win 999 My Nintendo Gold Points — that’s the equivalent of $9.99, if you use it for eShop discounts.
Grand Prix 2, The Wild Point Hunt, will run from Friday night through to Monday afternoon. Unlike the previous tournament where wins were required to earn points, players in this month’s tournament will earn points as long as they place above the 80th place, though placing higher up will net you significantly more tournament points, as seen in the table below.
Place | Points |
1st | 100 |
2nd | 50 |
3rd | 30 |
4th – 10th | 20 |
11th – 30th | 10 |
31st – 50th | 5 |
51st – 80th | 2 |
81st – 99th | 0 |
The event runs from 11:00pm this Friday the 12th, to 4:59pm on Monday the 15th.
The top 99 players in points in the Australia and New Zealand region will take home the prize. The event is also running in other regions; it’s only been confirmed for AUNZ and North America so far, but we imagine it’ll be available just about everywhere.
Funny how it’s called Maximus Cup elsewhere hehe
