Tetris 99 adds paid offline DLC
Well, this is a bit strange really. The famously free to play (if you have Nintendo Switch Online) Tetris 99 is getting new paid game modes.
Nintendo announced today that Tetris 99 now has new DLC, in the form of the Big Block DLC pack. The Big Block DLC pack comes with two pieces of DLC — the first is available right now, and includes two new game modes, Marathon and CPU Battle. Marathon is exactly what it sounds like, it’s a new mode that’s basically just classic Tetris, without any enemies trying to take you out. CPU Battle is… also exactly what it sounds like, it’s an offline training-style mode that allows you to practice Tetris 99 against 98 CPUs.
The second DLC, appropriately named “DLC 2”, is coming at a later point, at some time before the end of this year. According to the store listing, it’ll let you play offline with family and friends.
You can’t buy these DLC separately, only as part of the Big Block DLC, which is available to purchase right now, and will set you back $15.00AUD. Australians can buy it in their browser by clicking here.
