Tecmo Bowl rated by Australian Classification Board for Virtual Console release

Every so often the Australian Classification Board will spit out a rating for a game we never expected, today is one such occasion.

The classic American Football arcade title Tecmo Bowl has been rated for release here in Australia. If it’s actually released it’ll be the first time the game has been made available digitally in our region. It was released in America back in 2013 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop and before that on the Wii in 2007.

An odd choice for classification here in Australia, especially due to the costs involved. Is Tecmo Bowl something you’d be keen to play?

Heck yes! I used to play this game a lot as a kid. It’s a pleasant surprise to see this pop up on VC.

The VC release of Tecmo Bowl scrubs all the licensed content from it anyway, so the costs wouldn’t be that high. There is already a 3DS VC manual in English, so it would only really need the classification costs.

Can’t wait for NES’ Paint Dry on VC!

Seriously, I’m tired of these ridiculously old, crappy games that nobody asked for. The VC on the whole is a massive disappointment. The catalogue is weak and they’re so slow to add titles – and when they do it’s stuff like this that makes Sonic Boom look fun in comparison.

    Apologies, frustrated rant over.

Never played it, but I’ll play the hell out of it now!
