Team17 to publish Playtonic Games’ Yooka-Laylee

Yooka-Laylee has been a huge Kickstarter success, who doesn’t want a brand new 3D platformer from the creative team behind Banjo-Kazooie?

Now the Playtonic Games team have picked up a publisher for the game, one that may even take it to retail. Team17 won’t be providing any funding for the game but will do that boring ‘administrative’ stuff that a game needs to get to market. This means the Playtonic team can focus fully on the game.

It will still be a while before the game is out, October 2016 infact and will arrive on the Wii U as well as the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux.

So long as they don’t let T17 interfere with the developers and so long as the developers don’t exclusively depend on T17 for quality assurance, this is okay. If this was happening 15 years ago? I’d be right on board with Team17 tinstead of against ’em. T17 are a shadow of their former self since Worms World Party came out.
