Team Cherry announces new Hollow Knight sequel – Silksong

Back in 2014, when Team Cherry revealed their Hollow Knight Kickstarter, one of their stretch goals was a second playable character. For quite some time, it was thought that this second character — revealed to be Hornet, one of the protagonist’s allies in Hollow Knight — would be playable in a paid DLC for the original game. Now we know that it’s a bit bigger than that.

Team Cherry announced today that Hornet will be playable in her own full game, a sequel to the original game, called Hollow Knight: Silksong, which is coming to Switch and PC at some point in the future. Silksong follows the story of Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, as she adventures through an all new kingdom, never-before-seen by players.

With a whole new set of combat skills and abilities, over 150 new enemies, new tools, traps, and enemies, and a unique challenge mode, it looks like there’ll be absolutely no shortage of things to do in the new game. It also looks (and sounds) absolutely incredible. Take a look in the trailer below.

In an update to Kickstarter backers, Team Cherry have said that anybody who backed the game for $10 or more will get the game on Switch or PC for free.
