Surprise! Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is coming to the West

Be prepared to get real slimey.

In a shocking turn of events (see: not really shocking at all), Dragon Quest series designer Yuji Horii took to the official Dragon Quest twitter account in a video to announce that Dragon Quest XI (officially subtitled Echoes of and Elusive Age) is being localised for the West.

In the video, Horii said that the game was in the process of being localised into five different languages, including English. He went on to say that “there’s quite a lot of text, so it’s an exorbitant amount of work. But we’re doing our best and working hard to get this game to all of you as soon as possible.”

While no specific release date was announced, the game is expected to launch in the West in 2018, and it’s a safe bet that it’ll come to both the 3DS and the Switch, as in Japan. More details will be announced in Fall 2017 in the US (Spring for us down under). Hopefully we’ll get that cool as heck special edition or the similarly rad DQ11 Edition New 2DS XL.
