One of the 3DS selling points, SpotPass, now being put to use

The first 3DS game ever to receive an update will be Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition. Via the game’s official blog, the developers informed fans that the game would be getting an update through the 3DS’ SpotPass feature on March 5th. It’s still unknown what the update will actually contain, but most are speculating that it will only be to fix up stability issues and such. No word on whether or not it will add animated backgrounds to the game, as that seems to be the most complained about (or, rather, the least not-complained about) feature of the 3DS port.

Nintendo’s SpotPass feature allows developers and Nintendo to automatically send and download data to users’ 3DSes. Only time will tell if this feature will be used to its fullest extent or if it will have the same fate as the WiiConnect24.
