This morning’s Smash Bros Nintendo Direct was hosted by series director Masahiro Sakurai and boy did he have a ton of news for us.
First up, the release date for Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U will not be the same. The game will be released in the middle of the year, our winter on the 3DS whereas the Wii U version will be heading toward our summer at the end of year. Nintendo promised no specifics and that’s what you got.
The split is interesting, at least people won’t have to make a harsh choice between the two if they came out at the same time.
Sakurai also updated us on some the technical parts of the game. He again confirmed that the game on the 3DS will run at a full 60 frames per second, but some assist trophies may only move at 30fps. This is to keep the fight smooth.
Stay tuned to Vooks we’ll have more stories throughout the morning about the Nintendo Direct and the information from it!
