Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has already surpassed one million copies sold.
The game went on sale in Japan on Saturday September 12th. Nintendo says the figures are for the first week, we believe this means they’re only counting the Saturday and Sunday sales. Impressive. This figure also includes retail and digital sales.
The game is now the fourth Nintendo 3DS game to get over 1 million sales in its first week. These others include Monster Hunter 4, Youkai Watch and Pokemon X/Y.
The rest of the world doesn’t have much longer to wait with the game hitting in Europe and America on October 3rd and here in Australia on October 4th. Thankfully due to the time difference it’ll be mere hours after that we get it.

The amount of crazy that was goin on in different forums for a demo tells me this game will do similar if not better in the west than in japan. I do wonder however, if the Wii U version will have the same success after everyone has already has the game for 3DS.
Brawl sold 1.4 mil in first week in US, so imagine this will do similar. Agree about wii u though, that is the number I’m interested in. Mario kart went 2 mil, I think this game will beat that and move more units if it releases before Xmas in the states.
