Super Mario Maker supports 99 amiibo ‘Mario’ costumes
Super Mario Maker is going to support a ton of amiibo with its Mario Costume feature, up to 99 in fact. Now we know which ones will be supporedt.
The Mario Costume features places a collectable costume into the game based on what character you tap to the GamePad. So far only 8 characters have been officially confirmed and revealed, they are Yoshi, Link, Isabelle, Marth, Bowser, Peach, Kirby and Wii Fit Trainer.
Luckily for us the Japanese amiibo site has had its compatibility information updated and pretty much every other currently released (and soon to be released) amiibo will be supported. This list includes Pokemon which didn’t work in Yoshi’s Wooly World with Yoshi costume unlocks. The Animal Crossing amiibo aren’t on the compatibility site yet, we know Isabelle works and the site says some characters and cards will be support but nothing specific.
The only amiibo that won’t work are Mii Fighter, Mii Gunner, Mii Brawler and Mii Swordfighter (so far).
…I got 99 Amiibo but a Peach ain’t one*
* not true, I do not in fact have 99 Amiibo but I do have a Peach
That is a lot of amiibo support.
Aren’t Mii Gunner, Mii Brawler and Mii Swordfighter just the 3 different types of Mii Fighters? So Mii Fighter isn’t a fourth non-compatible amiibo as listed in the article (because there isn’t a standard ‘Mii Fighter’ Amiibo)
Wow, so there’s going to be more than 99 amiibo? Keep milking that cow Nintendo…
They have announced 100 Animal Crossing Amiibo cards, so not amiibo but NFC compatible items. So there is no surprises, the real surprise is that 99 of them WILL work in one game.
You may call it “milking” but im more than happy with the “fan service” they are providing.. I love collecting them and its something they should have done long ago.
Especially when this fan service includes the best looking figures of Nintendo characters and at the cheapest prices.
Not bad, but for characters like Luigi, Toad and Peach I’d like to see them as unlockable characters, rather than just costumes. Especially Luigi! Doesn’t even have to be different physics, as long as he’s there somewhere.
