Nintendo has just announced that Super Mario Maker will be making the jump onto the Nintendo 3DS. However there are some changes coming to the game to accommodate the format change.
Most of the tools in the Wii U version of the game feature here on the Nintendo 3DS version as well except for a couple. The Mystery Mushroom power-up will not be available nor will any of the costumes that are in the Wii U version.
You can also not search for stages created by other players by the course ID, other created courses can be found in the 100 Mario Challenge and “Recommended Courses.” Some of the courses made on the Wii U version also cannot be played on the 3DS version, Nintendo didn’t elaborate to what rules them out. You’re also not also able to share your courses online, instead Nintendo has changed it to be more ‘local’. You can share courses with friends via StreetPass and work on courses together and get a shared credit.
There’s also medal objectives for each course in the game, sort of like achievements. There are 100 Nintendo built courses in the game.
Super Mario Maker for 3DS launches on December 3rd in Australia.
