The next game in the SteamWorld universe from Image & Form has been announced, SteamWorld Heist.
Heist will let players recruit a team of steam-powered robots to explore and scavenge from what is left of a world destroyed by a cataclysmic event.
Set some time after SteamWorld Dig, water has become a rare and precious resource for the robots who rely on it to keep themselves and their steam driven spaceships alive.
Players will need to board ships, and direct their crew of robots in turn-based scenarios to claim the water they need to survive.
While set in the same world as Dig, and still featuring the cowbots, Image & Form do not consider Heist as a sequel.
…we want to make a game that is radically different. Partly because we really wanted to make a turn-based strategy game, but also because it felt like a clever move. The obvious follow-up would’ve been Dig 2; we wanted to surprise instead.”
A short teaser trailer has been released, giving a tiny glimpse into how Heist will look and play.
Heist is set to release in Spring of 2015, and release platforms have not yet been confirmed.
We loved SteamWorld Dig on Wii U and 3DS, so we sure hope Heist makes its way to a Nintendo platform as well!
