Over the weekend Square Enix announced a remake of a remake. Star Ocean: First Departure R is a remake of Star Ocean: First Departure that was on the PSP, itself a remake of Star Ocean on the Super Nintendo which was first released in 1996. Yeah, a SNES game in 1996 – we had to look it up too.
Aside from one Game Boy Color game (Star Ocean: Blue Sphere), it is the first time the series has come to a Nintendo system since the first game. The game will also release on the PlayStation 4.
Square Enix didn’t show anything from the game aside from some new artwork. A release date is also still forthcoming.
