The latest issue of Nintendo Power sheds some light on Crankys shop among other things

Nintendo Power magazine has revealed a little information on some much loved characters that will be making a comeback in the upcoming Donkey Kong Country Returns, a game thats set to revitalise the career of the titular ape. Its been revealed that Cranky Kong, DKs grandfather who first appeared in the very first Donkey Kong Country way back in 1994, will make a return as the owner of a shop, making sassy comments about what you buy as well as giving general gameplay tips. DKs parrot buddy Squawks is also making an appearance in said shop; his role is still unknown.

It was also revealed that the game will be broken up into 6 worlds, with alternate pathways similar to last years New Super Mario Bros. Wii, allowing you to bypass some levels if you feel youre not up to the challenge. And a challenge this will be; Nintendo Power has also revealed in their preview that the game is just as hard as the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy on the Super Nintendo, so it might be a good idea to start practising with those three games. Unlockable concept art, music, dioramas and stages were also revealed in the preview.

Donkey Kong Country Returns looks set to be a resurrection of sorts for the big ape, but will it live up to the heights of the original games? Well surely find out when its released this Christmas.
