It hasn’t even been half a week and the first of the free content for Splatoon will roll out later today. A new map, a new weapon and another game mode is on the way.
The update is said to go live on June 1st on 7pm Pacific, which in Australia is noon June 2nd in the east and 10am in the west. Heck depending on when you eat lunch it could be live now.
The free update will unlock the Ranked Battle mode and play Splat Zone, you’ll need to be level 10 or above to get in. The second freebie is a brand new map for the rotation called Port Mackerel.
Lastly and probably the coolest is a new weapon – the N-Zap ’85 which looks like the NES Zapper. Not the orange coloured one we know however.

Sweet, I’ll be jumping on then. About halfway through level 9 I think.
I like how Nintendo did not think ranked battle would be live for a while, turns out they were wrong. Sadly I have not picked up the game yet, it must wait until my return from E3
Hrmmm? Orange one we know? Originally in Australia the gray one was the official zapper. Later being replaced by that horrid orange. I still have my gray in my storage box.
