New maps, new music, hairstyles, level cap raised, new photo mode and much more.
Nintendo has announced two huge updates to Splatoon 2 and the first one is dropping later this week. The updates arrive in parts on Friday and Saturday, that’s UK time, we’ll hopefully find out in the morning from Nintendo Australia when everything is set to drop for us.
A new stage this week, with three more in the coming weeks. MakoMart launches this Saturday. Take a look;
MakoMart is a huge supermarket that sells all its products in bulk. Inklings usually go shopping there with their teammates to buy massive hauls and divide it up later. Pretty thrifty!
The other maps include another new one called Shellendorf Institute and the return of Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall. Everyone’s favourite!
Salmon Run fans you’re not being left out of this, there’s a new stage for you as well. Salmonid Smokeyard will join the rotation this week as well.
But wait, there’s more! There are two new bands in the game and that means new tunes. Please welcome to the game the Bottom Feeders and Ink Theory.
We’re heading into a new season and that means you’ve gotta look your best. Luckily there’s a bunch of new hairstyles to check out and new gear as well – over 140 new items.
There are some more changes to the game as well include the ability to take photos with your amiibo in any of the games battle stages, you can also apply filters and give them weapons now too. The game’s level cap has also been raised to 99, you can also now prestige and reset your Level back to ★1 and keep on going around again.
That’s not even the best update, you can now swap out your gear without leaving the lobby, thank crust for that.
And that’s the new Splatoon 2 update, no wait that’s just the first one! The second update adds a whole new ranked battle mode called Clam Blitz. It’ll be arriving in mid-December and the goal is to get as many clams into a basket as possible before the other team. The clams will follow you around the stage as you colelct them and the first to 100 wins.
The baskets are protected by a barrier, which must be destroyed first. After collecting 10 clams, you’ll earn a Power Clam. These super-powered clams are the key to breaking the barrier, so strategy will definitely be involved in deciding which clams are used to destroy the barrier and which are used to earn points. Not to mention the extra-satisfying opportunity to steal your opponents’ clams by splatting them.
