One long Direct later, and we have some juicy Splatoon 2 details! Most importantly, we now know that Splatoon 2 is out on July 21st in Europe! At worst, we’ll get it the day after in Australia, but hopefully we’ll get it the same day- stay tuned for details!

The Squid Research Lab also got into details on a new co-op mode called Salmon Run, which looks to be a Splatoon themed horde mode. The new enemies are called Salmonids, creepy fish people who swarm an island solely for the purpose for you to ink them and collect their eggs. The mode doesn’t seem to be replacing the single player mode by any means, with a teaser for the return of the Octolings also shown. That’s a lot to do in Splatoon 2!

And last but not least, three new amiibo were announced to release alongside the game. This time, it’s Splatoon 2 themed Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and a purple Squid. Scan them in to befriend them, with many of the features relating to the fashion aspect of the series. If you swap gear between rounds a lot, you can save your favourite sets to your amiibo as a shortcut to equipping them before battle. The first round of Splatoon amiibo are also compatible with the game, with the specific functionality up for speculation…
