Splatoon 2 is getting a paid Octo Expansion
Update 1: Nintendo Australia has announced that the Expansion will cost AU$30 / NZ$33.
Update 2: Now with added screens of both the Octo Expansion story, gear and multiplayer stages
Well heck. Nobody saw this coming.
Announced during the Nintendo Direct today, 2018 will bring an all new expansion for Splatoon 2, with a much-requested feature: playable Octolings.
The Octo Expansion will bring a whole new campaign mode featuring Agent 8, and will bring playable Octolings to the main game, presumably once the DLC is completed. Release details are somewhat sparse at the moment, but we do know the game is set to launch in Winter in Australia — that’s Summer in the US.
We’ll bring more info as it comes. You can watch the trailer below.

This looks like it really should have been a “B-side” release, like Captain Toad was to Super Mario 3D World and Luigi U was to Mario U.
This is grossly overpriced for a digital only expansion. I would rather have paid $60 for a budget-priced standalone retail release instead.
