What better way to prepare yourself for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 on WiiWare than by picking up this stellar collectors edition from EB games?

The limited edition will include a fancy tin case, some artwork postcards, a nifty Sonic plastic figurine and an o-ring sleeve.

The collection combines the best four Sonic games, Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. Indeed, the only games worth playing in the blue critter’s patchy legacy and remarkably all ports from the Sega Megadrive – the heyday of Sonic’s rivalry with our favourite platforming hero Mario. Nintendo may have won the war but we’re delighted to see Sonic’s best outings appear together on the DS as a great way to enjoy the solid platforming series. Yes, the classic Sonic games have been ported and pumped out on a heap of compilations for various systems BUT this version will finally let you emulate and enjoy the ‘lock-on’ mode allowed by the ‘Sonic and Knuckles’ cart – letting you play Sonic 2 and 3 with the infamous red echidna. Even last years Ultimate Mega Drive Collection on 360 and PS3 didnt include the feature, so the upcoming DS collection may be the best compilation yet of Sonic games.

So whether you’re a closet Sega fan or you are keen to see what all the nostalgic fuss is all about, we can recommend you chase this one down when it is released on the 11th of March
