Smash Bros. cleans up at the Japan Game Awards
The creator of Super Smash Bros, Masahiro Sakurai has acknowledged the late Satoru Iwata at the Japan Game Awards 2019 where Super Smash Bros Ultimate took out multiple top awards.
Sakurai said Iwata’s “last mission” for him was to complete Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo Switch. The game took out the Grand Award, Best Sales Award and the Global Award for Japanese Product for selling the most outside Japan.
“I’m sorry for bringing up this personal story at a time like this… but making Smash Bros on the Switch was the last mission the late Satoru Iwata gave to me…. I’ve put my all into the game, and with more DLC I will continue to work hard.”
