Skylanders Trap Team announced, requires new portal, out October 2nd

Activision have just taken the wraps off the newest Skylanders title, Skylanders Trap Team. The game is back being developed by Toys for Bob, the original team who made the first game. Skylanders Trap Team will be released on the Wii U, Wii, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and 4 as well as an separate title on the Nintendo 3DS.

Skylanders Trap Team reverses whole Skylanders concept by allowing you to pull characters out of the game and ‘trapping’ them in the real world in the brand new portal. Dubbed the Traptanium Portal this new portal not only functions like the Portals of old but also includes a new Trap feature that will trap villains defeated in the game. You’ll be able to hear them chatter in the new portal which has a speaker.

Once trapped you can then play as the captured villains and you will even be able to play as Kaos at one point. Trapped characters like the Skylanders can be transferred to any console for co-operative play just like before.

This time, we’re letting them pull their toys out of the game as well. We are confident this installment of Skylanders will once again redefine what’s possible at the intersection of the physical and virtual worlds.”

Skylanders Trap Team sees Kaos continuing his quest to rule of the Skylands. He has discovered the location of Cloudcracker Prison a fortress made entirely out of the magical substance Traptanium and its filled with Skylands’ worst of the worst. Kaos then of course blows up the prison releasing all of the villains and covering the earch in shards of Traptanium in the form of traps. The new Trap Masters as well as all the existing Skylanders can and must work toward restoring peace.

Skylanders Trap Team is out in Australia on October 2nd, October 5 in North America and October 10 in Europe.
