Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition announced with Dark Versions of Donkey Kong & Bowser
This year’s Skylanders game is again getting a ‘dark’ version with exclusive figurines and even a dark variant of the Donkey Kong and Bowser Skylander / amiibo figures. Like the standard starter pack the Wii version comes with Dark Hammer Slam Bowser and Dark Clown Cruiser and the Wii U version has Dark Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Dark Barrel Blaster. The Wii version is a different game all together. The all Nintendo versions of the game come with Dark Spitfire, Dark Hot Streak as well.
The non-Nintendo versions come with Dark Super Shot Stealth Elf and Dark Sea Shadow well. All version of the game come with a “two-sided ultimate collector poster and the highly sought-after Kaos Trophy, which is the only way to unlock special Kaos gameplay content”. The Dark Edition Starter Packs for all versions of the game will retail in Australia for $119.95.
Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition will be shown for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con.
Well then collecting all these Skylanders / amiibo just got even harder.
Yup, screw that. Once I’ve finished the Smash collection, no more amiibo for me.
I second that! This amiibo collecting is getting expensive!
I wish the bowser amiibo was also available in the Wii U version too, getting a Wii game in 2015 just seems wrong.
I don’t see these amiibo as being anything but regular figures outside of skylanders – so they are a no go for me. I’ll collect all the normal amiibo and skip these two as i don’t see them as part of a “collection”.
Now I know why the regular DK & Bowser figures look so poor – these look better.
@Oliver Bowser is also in the 3DS starter pack. Still, it would be crazy to buy two versions.
That Donkey Kong looks so cool though!!
Yeah, not buying into this crap. So these scumbags are trying to coax hardcore collectors into buying both the Wii U AND Wii versions (that’s $240 at full price; close to $300 if one also purchases the standard Donkey Kong/Bowser Skylanders figurines). Nice try, but no sale. I may have considered it (although I have ZERO interest in the Skylanders games. THAT is just how badly Nintendo has sucked me in with amiibo =P) if the figurines were included in the same pack (or made available for purchase separately), but now I’ve reconsidered completely. It helps that the amiibo look as unsightly as their Skylander brethren.
