Mark Bozon, the artist and programmer of the original Shantae, had initially invited fans of the original to petition publishers for the opportunity to develop a sequel. Well, it looks like that hassling has paid off, with the surprisingly early Q4 release date catching us all by surprise. The game will be episodic, with the first instalment hitting late this year, although the development team are close to wrapping up work on the project.
Way Forward released Mighty Flip Champs in March in North America—another platformer for DSiWare which has been met with positive reviews from critics and will release in Australia soon.
The title appeared in an official press release from Nintendo detailing the end of year release schedule and has also appeared in the latest Nintendo Power magazine. The magazine has released some pages of the latest issue on it’s website talking about the game and showing it off.
The original Shantae was adored by platforming fans and has become something of a collector’s item, with copies of the game fetching upwards of $100 on online auction houses.
Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles, ENDER MAGNOLIA, Guilty Gear -Strive-, Dance of Cards,…
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
Definitively done with the Wii U now.
But it's not for everyone yet.
