Sega have made a commitment to giving the latest Marvel flicks a platform in the gaming industry, and this continues with an announcement that they will launch Thor: The Video Game across major platforms this year, in time for the release of the film on May 6th, 2011.
There will be three different experiences or versions of the game: one for HD console owners, one for Wii and PSP owners, and another for DS owners. Whilst the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions promise a God of War-type third person adventure, including “tide-turning elemental powers” and “25 foot tall, 12 ton Ice Trolls," the Wii version will provide a twist, as well as a hammer smash (most likely mapped to motion controls), and will be presented in a comic book style, unlike the realistic approach taken for the HD systems. This style will also feature in the PSP version. The Nintendo DS Thor game, seems the most unique, being a 2D side-scrolling adventure, and having its own unique narrative.
Thor: The Video Game, will be released alongside the film, on May 6th 2011.
