SEGA to cut prices on most popular Virtual Console titles

In what will be the first sale on the service, ten Megadrive games will be reduced to 500 Points for a limited time

Unlike all the competitors systems this generation, the Virtual Console and WiiWare services on Wii have been the only ones to never receive any form of sales or specials. SEGA can hopefully change that for the better now, with the company just announcing a 40% sale on selected Megadrive titles from the Virtual Console for two weeks. This means theyre down from their usual 800-Point price to 500 Points. Ten have been chosen, apparently their most popular, which you can see below.

Gunstar Heroes
Toe Jam & Earl
Puyo Puyo 2
Shining Force
Golden Axe
Altered Beast
Streets Of Rage 2

The sale starts on December 24th and ends on January 6th next year, all UK time. It will probably start for us on Christmas day, but well see soon enough.

SEGA doesnt seem to be just planning a once-off thing, either, as long as it does well. Following clarification that to the best of their knowledge it is the first sale of any sort on the service, a SEGA representative explained, "For that reason exactly we are hoping this gets a lot of support, because more support = more probability of it happening again in the future!"

So, if youve put off buying any of those classic titles due to their price, be sure to pick them up! More sales would be a great gain.
