Sega tells third parties to shape up.

In a recent interview with Netgen.biz, Sega’s Vice president of marketing Scott Steinberg thinks that third parties should be working harder on the upcoming Wii console.

Analysts have said that even if there was a super successful Wii launch, it will do little to help third parties because of a slow recognition of the Wii’s potential. Steinberg stated that Sega has been “”on the Wii bandwagon from day one””, where as other third parties have been slow to take the Wii seriously and now are rushing to make launch.

Also Steinberg suggested that “”Some third parties have shown a lack of imagination when dealing with this new platform. The way the Wii is being built you have to design for it. Ports and upgrades are no good. That thinking takes a little bit of creativity and not every publisher has the necessary creative people available.””

Many third parties didnt take Wii seriously until E3 and simply made a mistake of just thinking the Wii would be another Gamecube. It’s a real sea change.”” Says Steinberg and it could “”really close the gap in a big way”” on the next gen wars.
