Sega has announced that following on from their succesful arcade conversions, the Sega Megadrive (Genesis in America) will be the next console to get the 3D Classics treatment on the Nintendo 3DS.

The first games to get the treatment will be Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes.

The first title out will be 3D Gunstar Heroes in July, 3D Streets of Rage 2 in August and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in August – quite a while away. Each game will be around $6.50US, so hopefully not too much more than the games are right now.

Just like all the currently released 3D Classics the games will feature completely remastered graphics in 3D, control options and ‘new features’. 3D Classics on the Nintendo 3DS, Sega really does what Nintendon’t.
