Formally Gladiator A.D. and its out this May; MotionPlus controls go missing

Sega is again teaming up with High Voltage Software on the Wii to release Tournament of Legends. The game was announced last year as Gladiator A.D. but at that point didn’t have a publisher. Tournament of Legends is a 3D fighter for up to two players which has its fighters taken from the world of mythology. That means you’ll be fighting as a Minotaur and a Valkyrie among other Greek and Roman mythological creatures.

The game uses the Quantum 3 engine that the Conduit used and will have a wide range of control options including motion controls but you can always go and slap a Classic Controller in as well. Wii MotionPlus controls have been dropped and will not feature in the game.

“Tournament of Legends is bringing a unique concept to Wii” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe. “Facing off against these legendary characters is a powerful experience, while dual wielding the Wii Remote and Nunchuck makes arena fighting more intuitive and the face-off with your friends even more competitive!”

IGN has had some time with the game already at an event in New York and they’ve come away impressed.

The game is due for release in May and of course is exclusive to the Wii.
