Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that the company is ‘thinking internally’ about what would be required to make the Nintendo NX region free.
During a post investor briefing Q&A, Iwata was asked about region locking (and removing it), something he’s said he would ‘consider’ in past meetings.
Iwata said that with the generation of machines, there’s a variety of challenges in removing the region lock and it would probably not happen. However for the the NX he understands that the there is demand from the market for a region free system and there has been discussion at Nintendo internally about what steps would be required for it to be removed. While Iwata says he is “thinking positively” about region free, nothing has yet been fully decided upon.
