Satoru Iwata further details Nintendo’s plans for revamped account system
The ‘account system’ issue has been a big one with fans for many years. So when Satoru Iwata announced Nintendo were working with DeNa on an entirely new and inclusive one there was much to celebrate.
Today at an investor briefing, Satoru Iwata has revealed some more details about just how this new account system will work and what it’ll keep track of. The new (yet unnamed) system will be a “integrated membership service” that will establish a bridge between smart devices and Nintendo’s dedicated game systems. This including the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U but also the NX which is currently in development. Furthermore smart devices and PCs will be benefit and be able to log into this system.
So far, the members input their Club Nintendo ID to use the services. With this new service, our members will be able to visit Nintendo’s website and log in with one ID, and they will receive various services including the ones based on their past purchases and gameplay records as well as services that will be an improved version of the current loyalty program.
With this new membership, we are planning to deploy services that will make playing Nintendo games with their game pals more fun regardless of which platform they are accessing.
Details were really light when Nintendo first announced this and today’s statement helps clarify further their plans, hopefully we get some more concrete details about this new system soon because it sounds like what we’ve all been asking for.

“Details were really light when Nintenod”
You might want to fix that 😛
I’m SO eager to hear more about this. I find it a bit odd that they haven’t specifically named the ID for this ‘integrated membership service’ as the Nintendo Network ID. Kind of concerning, but I’m sure we’ll see how they’re organizing this soon.
As long as this means that if I buy Mario on Virtual Console NES again, I wont ever have to buy it again on future platforms
