Rumour: Wii to offer Movie and TV streaming service

A representative of Lionsgate Entertainment in the US has announced that Nintendo aims to implement an online distribution service for movies and TV shows. Curt Marvis, head of digital distribution at Lionsgate discussed the Wiis capability to provide such content, and that such a service may appear as soon as this year. I think when we see the Wii come into the market with the ability to stream movies, which I think is maybe going to happen as soon as this year, I think thats going to be a big marketplace for digital distribution. Nintendo hasnt made any indication they will provide streaming video outside of Japan, where a video-on-demand service will soon be provided in collaboration with Japanese advertising agency Dentsu.
