There have been rumours for years about GoldenEye 007 hitting the Virtual Console, the Xbox Live Arcade and even the moon. Now the first information, possibly about an entirely new remake of the classic game, has emerged, and will bring GoldenEye up to modern standards. Eurogamer is reporting that Activision has recruited developers Eurocom and n-Space to bring the classic game back to life on the Wii and Nintendo DS.
The game is expected to be shown off at this month’s E3 Expo. Eurocom has previously worked on the Wii with the excellent Dead Space Extraction and has worked on the James Bond franchise previously with Nightfire and The World Is Not Enough. n-Space has worked on all previous Call of Duty titles for the Nintendo DS and Geist back on the GameCube.
While the game itself seems like a lock-in at this point, further rumours point to information that says the game has been remade with actor Daniel Craig as the Bond in the game, and that there will be 4-player split-screen and 8-player online multiplayer.
Rare has confirmed that they have had nothing to do with the game, if it even exists however. It’s also believed that the game will be out as a November release.
After years of limbo, are you happy to see GoldenEye possibly be back?
