Will the next major DS upgrade be unveiled in a few weeks?

A number of rumours have been floating around surrounding new hardware to be unveiled by Nintendo. With the Game Developers Conference and Nintendos Media Summit approaching next month, rumours have been spreading thick and fast as to what Nintendos big announcement, if any, may be. The hottest piece of speculation suggests that it could be a major DS successor.

Developer sources are claiming that Nintendo has already started sending out development kits for the next DS to several studios. At the moment, no details on the specifications of the new system have been divulged, and were not counting on Nintendo to comment either. Furthermore, some sources dare to claim that the "DS 2" will be released by the end of this year.

In any case, well have to wait till GDC, beginning on March 3, or one hell of an E3 to find out.
