Rockstar says Wii U version of Grand Theft Auto 5 ‘up for consideration’
There’s never been a mainline Grand Theft Auto game on a Nintendo console, it just doesn’t happen. Well that could be about to change.
Recently IGN sat down with Dan Houser from Rockstar Games and asked them a bunch of questions about the upcoming game, including whether or not a Wii U version (and a PC version) could be happening.
“Everything else is up for consideration. That’s all I can give you. The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways.”
Grand Theft Auto IV and its subsequent expansion titles hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and of course the PC version some time later. If Grand Theft Auto V didn’t come to the PC we’d be really surprised, if it doesn’t come to the Wii U then we wouldn’t be surprised.
Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo America president is hopeful though telling MTV that “The folks there [Rockstar] have said very nice public comments about the Wii U. In the end, it is Nintendo’s responsibility to have a large installed base, to have development tools that help the developers and publishers create great content, and essentially create an environment where teams like Rockstar can bring their very best content to our platform, and if we do that hopefully the very best content throughout the entire industry will show up on Wii U.”
Whatever will be, will be.
You know its coming! 😀
If it comes out on Wii U i’ll buy the console just to play the game!!
I would imagine it would be like GTA4 on PC. Simply done after they have pushed out the Ps3/360 versions. To be fair I’m guessing this would be a somewhat difficult port at the very least because of the scale of the project combined with the total lack of any data cache system similar to the other machines but I’m sure they will figure it out.
Never going to happen.
