Report: The Wii U is no longer in production, final units roll out this week

That's all folks.

According to a report by Eurogamer the Wii U will finish production this Friday. The final deadline for orders has passed and only a few more orders were received.

That’s it, no more – what’s left out in the wild all that will be sold from here on out.

With Wii U sales sitting at 13.36 million it now ranks below even the GameCube at 21 million, the Nintendo 64 on 32 million and the Wii reigning supreme on 101 million.

With the Switch on the way and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild the only remaining release from Nintendo forthcoming there’s really no point dragging this on any further.

Bit of a shame really. We’ll come back in a couple days and share some of our favourite Wii U memories and games but what about you. What’s your favourite Wii U moment?

Note: Eurogamer’s track record for rumours has been incredible as of late basically revealing the Switch months before the official reveal. This is why we’ve published this story.
