Renegade Kid keen to develop more projects for DS/DSi

The team behind niche DS titles Dementium: The Ward and Moon are pitching a handful of new games to potential publishers

Jools Watsham, director at Renegade Kid, announced on his blog that they are working on three downloadable titles for DSiWare and two DS retail games. No details or names have yet been given for any of the five games.

Watsham states that critical success with Dementium and the buzz surrounding its soon to be released sequel, Dementium II, has opened up many doors for Renegade Kid —“I have been courting one of the publishers since May 2009, when I met with them at E3. It is quite incredible that it can take that long (and longer) to secure a deal. I showed them our Maximilian demo, as well as a current build of Dementium II. They really like what were doing on the DS.”

Renegade Kid may also be privileged with the opportunity to work on an already-established IP for one of the publishers they have approached—“Theyre (unnamed publisher) currently showing some interest in taking one of our DSiWare concepts and slapping their IP on it, which would essentially result in a re-skinning of the current design: new artwork / same gameplay.”

It’s great to see the success of the DSiWare concept attract new and capable studios and we look forward to finally seeing whatever they’re actually working on.

Their next retail game, Dementium II, is just around the corner, with an unspecified Q2 launch in Australia expected.
