But there's a catch...

Just a friendly reminder that if you’re keen to get a free copy of the Gameboy Color classic, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe – then you’ll need to link your Nintendo Network ID to  your Nintendo 3DS as soon as possible.

You’ll need to register your current NNID you use on your Wii U or create a new before 23:59 UTC on January 31st. For those without the ability to automatically translate time zones on the fly in there head that’s 11am AEDT on Saturday February 1st. Don’t live there? Then you’ll want to visit this link to find out your time zone.

Once you’ve registered your code will be sent out between 13th February and 28th February 2014 to the email address registered to an owner’s Nintendo Network ID.

However, if you link a Nintendo Network ID to your 3DS you will no longer be able to change your systems region to anything other than that of the linked NNID. That means no more European eShop for Aussies if you have an Australia NNID. On the flip side, if you don’t link your NNID you will no longer be able to download demos or free applications from the eShop.

The choice is yours.

Nintendo UK has a full list of terms, conditions and instructions on how to do this.
