Reminder: Free Wii U game with Mario Kart 8 promotion ends tomorrow

For the past two months Nintendo has been offering a free Wii U title with any purchase of Mario Kart 8. The promotion has been available here in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK and with less games in North America.

However all good things come to an end and at 23:59 Australian Eastern Standard Time tomorrow on the 31st of July 2014 the promotion will end. After this date you won’t be able to register Mario Kart 8 for a free title but still claim for a free game until the end of August if you’ve registered the game before the end of July. After that, you’re out of luck.

The promotion anecdotally has done wonders for the Wii U with sales up and even just the general ‘vibe’ of all things Wii U much more positive.

So if you’re reading this before the above time, you best race down to your local store and get a copy of Mario Kart 8 if you want a free copy of either Nintendo Land, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Sonic Lost World, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Wii Party U or New Super Mario Bros U.

Having trouble deciding? We wrote a quick roundup of most of the games on offer.

For those who already redeemed, what game did you pick? Did anyone pick up a Wii U just because of this promotion either? Let us know in the comments.

I had all of these games (and can recommend all of them on some level), except Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (or whatever the exact title is).

After over 2 months of not being able to decide, I went with the Olympics game. The Sonic Lost World demo was just so bad. The only reason I was going to get Sonic Lost World was purely for the Yoshi and Zelda dlc, but apparently they’re not that amazing. Both had such equally mediocre reviews that it made it even more difficult to decide which to get but I went with the Olympics game mostly because I play party games with my family (sister and cousins) and it just made more sense to to get it over Sonic which I’d play for an hour, play the dlcs and then never touch again.
