We knew DSi only games might have been region locked, but now it seems even DSi enhanced ones might be too.

According to anecdotal reports from a member of NeoGAF, the latest game in the iDOLM@STER series on the DS could be region coded. The game which is classed as a DSi-enhanced game, which means it can be played in a DS but will have extra features on the DSi. When inserted in his American DSi unit the console wouldnt recognise it. No error, just wouldnt pick it up.

The user then tested it on his American DS Lite, and as expected it worked as the DS Lites have no form of region restrictions whatsoever.

This could be worse than we originally thought, as it could mean an end to importing DS games for DSi owners, if DSi enhanced games become popular. At the moment theres only a small amount of games with DSi features though.

It also brings up the issue that Australian DSis are technically another region all together from Europe as we have a different firmware (shared with New Zealand). So worst case scenario, only DSi enhanced and DSi only games sold in Australia could work on the console. But dont push the panic button just yet, it could just be this one game.
